Methven is a small town in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand . It is located near the western edge of the Canterbury Plains and is approximately an hours drive from Christchurch.

Description of 76km Course
This course also starts in front of the Methven Resort and riders will ride through the centre of town in a northerly direction and at the 3km mark will turn left into Waimarama Rd. This will take the riders due west until they hit the intersection of Waimarama Rd and Arundel Rakaia Gorge Rd. Riders will turn left into Arundel Rakaia Gorge Rd travelling due south and stay on this stretch of road until the 44km mark. Up to this point they will have passed through the settlements of Burnside, Bucceuch and Cavendish. The riders will then turn hard left into Mayfield Valetta Rd in a north easterly direction which then runs naturally into Thompsons Track. At the intersection of Thompsons Track and the Methven Highway (64.5km mark) riders will turn left onto the Methven Highway and ride due north to the finish line outside the Methven Resort.

Short Course Profile
Description of 37km Course
This course starts right out in front of the Methven Resort on Main Street and riders will head due north through the township and then into the Mount Hutt Station Rd. After approximately 12 kilometres riders will turn left onto the Arundel Rakaia Gorge Rd and ride in a southerly direction along this road. At the 21km mark riders will turn left into Pudding Hill Rd and ride in an easterly direction. From Pudding Hill Rd riders will take an ever so slight right hand turn into Dip Road. Riders will make a left hand turn into Reynolds Rd that then runs naturally into Ledgerwood Rd. At the intersection of Ledgerwood Rd and SH 77 riders will turn left and head due north to finish back outside the Methven resort having completed approximately 37km of riding their bikes.
